Alcalá Critical Mass: November

Our pal Germán posts his first contribution to BPC, a report from Alcalá’s Critical Mass. Here is a summarised version in English (sorry, I’m too busy at the moment to do a full translation)

There where at least 23 cyclist at when we left the Plaza de los Santos Niños, and I could tell many of them already new each other. By-passer looked curiously at us, as it usually happens.

We went round the eastern part of Alcalá and then back to the city centre. During the ride, I notice a very sleek and light machine: a fixie. I went up to talk to the chap riding it, who turned out to be a lecturer at the School of Engineering. He had bought the bike in the US. 8kg of pure cycling beauty.

I think it is not a mere coincidence that the people who I talked with and had some degree of bicycle culture in them had been living abroad for some time. I.e. we need to go abroad more often and open our minds.

As every last wednesday of the month, we finished at teh Plaza de Cervantes. The next Alcala Critical Mass will take place in 31 December, the last wednesday of the month. We will be there, to finish the year with a quick and colourful ride before going back home to have dinner and celebrate into the new year. See you there.
